What human being is really universally likeable? But even he deserves to be treated fairly and cordially, and he’s not. He’s not a very likeable character, but that is typical of Kafka. Our main character, K, is just as confused and perplexed with his situation as the reader is. When there is much corruption and bureaucracy in a governmental system (as there usually is), an average person gets swept into it in a harsh manner. Life is just one problem after the other where you get blamed in some way. And in regards to this book, I understood his message. I understand Kafka is regarded as “challenging literature”, but I don’t really get that feeling. Now before you all pounce down my throat, let me explain. I’m pretty sure Kafka himself would have been ashamed by it. It’s hard to accept that the guy who wrote The Metamorphosis also wrote this bundle of mess.
